Seeing Red

Midterms are over and I have the time to see the colors! In NYC fall arrives later than in Colorado. I am hoping to see some beautiful color this weekend, The reds in this area is so amazing!

I love the rich blue sky days in NYC, they remind me of home. I can't wait until the leaves start to turn.

Emotional Expressions

Today we studied about emotional expressions in sociology class. We were studying Darwin and the Emotions and Animals and Man an my professor spoke about Paul Ekman and how he built off Darwin's work by explaining the 43 emotions of the face, he is a photographer too. :) Here is a link to learn more about Ekman and I hope you enjoy the expressions of emotion! Today we talked about how babies don't know how to kiss, we teach them. This just a quick collection from my archive. You can see, my son is so demonstrative, we don't know where he gets it from. :) The variety of emotions that can be seen on a face from sadness to pure delight, is simply amazing. I can see how my photography is going to work really well with my major. :) I love going to school!

Finally, my last three books arrived for my fall sociology classes. I will be studying about food and emotions through the sociological lens. I can't wait to read them!

The Reason I am here

I am just a few days away from starting my third semester at Columbia School of General Studies and I still amazed every time I walk past Butler Library or walk up the steps of Low Library. I am in awe that I attend this magnificent college. All of my teachers and my adviser have been so kind and helpful. Going back to school at my age has had its challenges, but the journey has changed how I see others and how I see myself. I am looking forward to attending school hear during the fall. I hear NYC is so beautiful. I can't wait to see all the gorgeous fall colors. :)

We stopped at this park and the top picture shows a memorial to the forgotten war, the Korean War, which my grandfather served in. It was so neat to see it and think of him. And then, there is Amanda! She is so cute! I can't believe how fast the time flew while they were with us. Sigh...

It was raining by the time we drove though the city. The fog and rain made the pictures look grainy so, I turned them black and white and I am happy with the results. If you ever get a chance to go to Philadelphia, it is a beautiful city! Another perk living on the east coast, all the day trips!
